Is your AI-designed résumé text, or just a picture of text?
Before submitting an AI-designed résumé, try selecting your email address in the exported file. Looking sharp on screen is not the same as giving a hiring system readable text. Lever's existing parsing guide says it accepts Word and PDF files, among other formats, but cannot extract information from image files such as JPG or PNG. Its suggested quick check is whether you can highlight the text. If you cannot, the document is likely not parseable. That is a useful first check, not a guarantee that every field will be extracted correctly. I would keep an editable text version and follow the employer's requested file format. Check the export itself, not just the design preview. This is a precaution for AI-assisted résumé design, not evidence that a particular design tool produces unreadable files. The employer has a responsibility here too. Lever documents manual correction of candidate fields when parsing fails. A missing field should prompt someone to look at the submitted résumé before treating it as missing experience. An applicant should not need to understand your software to have their work history read.
Comments
A wrong location on the candidate profile may not come from the résumé at all. Lever's troubleshooting section says some job-board integrations pass the answer to a ‘Current Location’ question into that field instead of using the parsed résumé location. It can end up blank or as ‘-’ even when parsed location data is available. If a recruiter sees a location mismatch, I would check the application response and import path before asking the applicant to redesign their document. A readable file cannot fix a field being populated from somewhere else.
