Can an AI translation of your document go straight into a USCIS filing?

A chatbot can produce an English version of a birth certificate in seconds. That doesn't tell you whether the document is ready to file. USCIS's existing Lockbox filing guide says non-English supporting documents need a full English translation. The translator must sign and certify that it is complete and accurate, and state that they are competent to translate from the original language into English. I'd settle who can check the whole document and make that certification before spending an evening polishing an AI draft. If you cannot read the original, asking the same chatbot whether it translated everything correctly doesn't give you that check. A fluent paragraph is especially unhelpful if you asked for a summary when the requirement was a full translation. The cited guide doesn't decide whether a translator may use AI. I wouldn't read an AI ban into it, or assume AI output removes the certification requirement. Check the instructions for the particular form as well. AI could help you understand what a document says while you arrange the filing translation. Keep those two uses separate. Someone already facing a pile of paperwork deserves to know which job is actually finished.
