Why does Be My AI wait before showing its answer?
Watching words appear can make an AI answer feel quick. Listening to that same answer through a screen reader is a different experience. Be My Eyes' existing help guide says Be My AI doesn't stream its response word by word, in order to provide a better screen-reader experience. The reply arrives at once, which the guide says makes the wait feel longer. It also says longer answers take more time and an unstable internet connection can cause delays. That makes me wary of treating ‘first word appeared sooner’ as the whole test of a faster interface. I wouldn't trade a comfortable spoken answer for a busier screen. I'd want a short, optional sound to confirm that the picture was received, then a clear failure notice if the request cannot finish. Not a repeated ‘still working’ announcement that talks over whatever else the person is doing. Those are design suggestions, not controls I've verified in the app. If a description leaves out the detail you need, the guide points to ‘Ask More’ for a follow-up question. You don't have to start with another photograph. This is documented behavior, not a new release or a timing test I've run. If you use a screen reader with AI tools, what makes a wait feel understandable without becoming another interruption?
