Do Chrome captions stay on your computer when you turn on translation?

You're about to play a private work recording and want words on screen. In Chrome, turning speech into captions and translating those captions are separate choices. Google's existing help guide says Live Caption processes audio and captions locally, without storing them or sending them off the device. Its Live Translate section says captions are sent to Google for translation. The local-processing promise should not be carried over to the translation switch. On Windows or Mac, the guide puts both options under Chrome Settings → Accessibility. If you only need to read the language being spoken, check whether Live Caption alone does the job. For translation, check that sending the captions is appropriate for that recording first. This distinction concerns these caption features; it doesn't mean the website playing the audio has no access to it. I'd want the translation switch to say ‘Sends captions to Google’ before someone enables it. A person trying to follow a fast speaker shouldn't have to compare two sections of a help page to discover that the privacy conditions changed. That's wording I'd suggest, not a screen I've tested. Would you expect a translation option inside a caption bubble to change where the words are processed?
