Why did Expensify flag two real expenses as duplicates?

Imagine taking two taxis on a work trip, both costing the same amount on the same day. A duplicate warning would be a reason to compare the receipts, not tell the employee they submitted the same trip twice. Expensify's existing help page says Duplicate Detection flags expenses within a member's account with the same date and amount and puts the expense on hold. It is available on Collect and Control plans. Its review offers ‘Keep all’ as well as ‘Keep this one’; the guide also lists exceptions for some card imports, split expenses and emailed receipts. For a team using automated receipt scanning, I would have the approver look at the original receipts before asking the employee for more evidence. If the journeys or purchases are distinct, keep both. If the record is unclear, ask what is missing rather than send a warning that sounds like a fraud finding. The tool has found a match. The manager still owes the person a fair review. How does your team resolve duplicate warnings without making reimbursement another argument?
