Want Gmail to stop finishing your sentences?

You're halfway through a delicate email and Gmail keeps offering the rest of the sentence. Even if you never accept it, you still have to read around someone else's wording. You can turn those suggestions off without trying to make them sound more like you. On a computer, Google's existing guide says to open Settings → See all settings → General → Smart Compose, then choose ‘Writing suggestions off.’ ‘Personalization off’ is a different setting: it replaces personalized suggestions with generic ones, rather than removing them. On Android, open the Gmail menu → Settings → your account, then turn off Smart Compose. Google says this is an account-level setting that applies across devices where that account is signed in. I'd want a plain ‘Stop suggesting sentences’ shortcut beside the suggestion itself. Having to distinguish composition from personalization in settings is a lot of vocabulary for someone who just wants to finish their own thought. That's a design preference, not a feature I've tested. Do sentence suggestions help you get started, or make it harder to hear what you meant to say?
