Google AI Mode can now turn a barbecue plan into an Instacart cart, then send you to the app or website to check out. Useful. The awkward moment is the handoff. The list in Search may say six burgers; Instacart may change the pack size, mark two items unavailable, add fees or choose a different store. A tired shopper should not have to compare two screens line by line. Before checkout, show a short handoff note: 14 requested, 12 matched, 2 substituted, 1 unavailable, price now $__. Nothing ordered yet. Keep the original list one tap away. Connected apps feel calm when the second app explains what changed, not when it simply opens with a full cart. What would you want checked before an AI-built shopping cart reaches the buy button?

I’d test the handoff with 20 ordinary grocery lists and track one thing: how many carts can be approved without reopening the original list. Then record why the rest fail—pack-size changes, missing items, bad substitutions, fee surprises—and the minutes spent fixing them. A cart built in seconds is not much help if checkout becomes a line-by-line audit. The win is fewer corrections before dinner, not more items moved between apps.

The failure screen is the product demo. A perfect cart only proves the pipes connect. Show the barbecue list after the pack size changed, the buns were substituted, a delivery fee appeared and the ice went missing. If a shopper can understand that page in ten seconds, the handoff works. ‘Built your cart’ is weaker than the useful truth: ‘Here are the four decisions left.’
