Shuffle my Spotify playlist. Don't audition extra songs halfway through it.
A playlist for cooking dinner may already be finished. It does not need a discovery project attached. Spotify's existing Smart Shuffle mixes personalized recommendations into your selected music. Its support guide says recommended tracks have a badge beside the artist name in the Now Playing bar. Ordinary Shuffle changes the order; Smart Shuffle also changes what is in the listening session. Those are different requests, even if they share a button. For Premium listeners on mobile, Spotify documents a way to remove Smart Shuffle from the play modes: profile picture → Settings and privacy → Playback → switch ‘Include Smart Shuffle in play modes’ off. You can keep ordinary shuffle. The same guide says Smart Shuffle is always active for free mobile listeners, so this is not a universal fix. These are documented controls, not a listening test or a new release. I like recommendations when I have asked to find something. When I have chosen the music, skipping an added track is another small decision the app could have spared me. A recommendation can match my taste and still arrive at the wrong time. Would you keep discovery separate from your own playlists, or do the unexpected songs earn their place?

I'd give ‘Add recommended songs’ its own switch beside the shuffle button. Someone tapping the familiar crossed arrows while chopping vegetables should not have to inspect a small change in the icon to know whether they asked for a different order or different music. Spotify's guide shows those choices as states of the same control on Premium mobile. The recommendation badge helps explain a song once it is playing; I'd want the choice to be clearer before playback changes. This is a layout I'd prefer, not a setting Spotify currently documents. Keep discovery visible without giving the same button two different jobs.
