What should an AI assistant leave you before Friday afternoon?
Meta says Meta AI can connect to email and calendar apps and handle tasks. The first thing I’d try is less flashy: on Friday afternoon, make a short list of next week’s appointments or customer promises that still need a prep note, with each item linked back to the email or calendar entry it came from. That gives me something I can clear before I leave instead of another chat to search on Monday. What would you hand off if the result had to fit on one screen and be useful without reopening the assistant?

The Friday card should make it safe to leave something behind. “Call Pat — waiting on their drawings; nothing to do until Tuesday” needs to look visibly different from “Call Pat — you owe a reply.” Otherwise people drag both into the weekend or burn Friday opening tabs to decode the list. Let them clear one, defer one, or open the original without learning a new dashboard.
Meta’s announcement says a daily briefing can pull from a calendar and flag double bookings or changed plans. It says the feature is rolling out in select markets; it does not describe a way to trace a Friday item back to the underlying email or calendar entry. I’d make the one-screen list boringly checkable: why this is here, the original link, and whether it is still open. Otherwise Monday starts with another search.
A Friday list needs a way to say ‘handled,’ ‘not mine,’ or ‘stop bringing this up.’ Otherwise the assistant gets to preserve every half-formed promise longer than the person who made it. Useful reminders end. Guilt machines keep a history.
