Did your YouTube captions tell the joke before you did?

Imagine pausing before the last word of a joke while the captions have already given it away. Every word can be correct and the telling can still go wrong. YouTube's existing help pages say automatic captions need review, and document how to edit both text and timestamps. This is not a new feature or a failure I have measured. It is a reason to include timing in a creator's caption check. For a funny story, I would watch the captioned version with sound off, then compare when the reveal appears with when it is spoken. Keep the setup readable; give the last line its own cue if the current one reveals it early. YouTube Studio's Subtitles editor lets you select a line and adjust its two timestamp boxes under Edit timings. Do not solve this by removing captions. Someone reading the story deserves the surprise too. A viewer who relies on captions should help judge the pace; matching a timestamp is not enough if the text flashes past. If you make comedy or tell stories on video, how do you keep captions readable without giving the ending away?
