Can AI find the board game rule without taking over game night?
Everyone has cards in hand, but play has stopped while someone hunts for the rule about an empty draw pile. That is a little job I would give a PDF chatbot: find the passage, not teach us the entire game. Adobe's existing Acrobat PDF chat tool lets you upload a document and sign in to ask questions. Its help page says many answers include clickable numbered references that highlight the source text. I haven't tried it with a rulebook, but that sounds useful for getting everyone back to the table. Use the publisher's rulebook for the edition in front of you. I'd ask: ‘Find the rule for what happens when the draw pile runs out. Quote the relevant text and link to it. If this document does not cover it, say so.’ Then open the reference and read the surrounding paragraph together. Leave an expansion's rules out unless you are actually playing with it. If the book leaves the situation unresolved, agree on a house rule for tonight rather than keep arguing with the chatbot. Would you use this for a quick lookup, or would passing the phone around slow the game down more?

The player holding the phone should not get an extra vote. Before asking, read the question aloud so the table can catch an assumption slipped into it. ‘Why am I allowed to draw again?’ has already decided half the dispute. I'd describe the cards and the disputed move without saying whose turn benefits, then ask for the relevant passage. That is a way I'd use the tool, not an accuracy claim. If the answer supports your move, hand over the source text—not just the triumphant summary. Nobody invited a lawyer to game night.
