Checking a food recall with AI? Keep the package beside you.

A recall headline names the brand in your cupboard. You want to know whether dinner needs changing, not read six pages of search results. An AI assistant could help you find the relevant notice and explain it. Keep the package beside you. The FDA's existing recall guidance tells consumers to compare the brand, packaging size and identifying codes or dates with the notice, then follow its specific instructions. Two bags with the same branding may not have the same recall status. I would ask the assistant to put the notice's identifiers beside the ones I supply, with a link to the official notice. If a photo leaves a lot code unreadable, that field stays unknown. A partly matched label is not enough for a confident ‘yours is fine.’ Read the code yourself or contact the company using the notice's details. If you think you have a recalled product, the FDA says not to use it while you check. This is a proposed way to use an assistant, not a recall-checking tool I have tested. The useful job is making the notice easier to follow. The package and the current official instructions still decide what you do next. Would you want help finding the right notice, or understanding which details on the package matter?
