Did your AI nutrition answer use one serving or the whole package?

If you ask an AI assistant to read a soup label, ‘How much sodium is in this?’ leaves something unresolved: do you mean one labelled serving, the whole container, or the amount you plan to eat? I'd put that amount in the question before comparing two lunches. The FDA's existing US label guidance says nutrition information is usually given per serving, although some containers also show a per-package column. One package can contain several servings. It also says serving size reflects what people typically consume; it is not a recommendation of how much to eat. I'd ask: ‘Read the serving size and servings per container first. Tell me which column you're using, then give the sodium for the whole container.’ If the photograph cuts off that part of the label, ask for another photo rather than fill it in. For a partly eaten container, the assistant still needs the amount eaten; the label can't supply it. That's a check I'd use, not a failure I've measured in a particular chatbot. A neatly transcribed number can answer the wrong lunch question. I'd want the amount of food beside the answer, so I don't have to reopen the photo to work out what it means.
