Should Family AI Brief Parents Before the School Run Instead of Filling It?

Remembering is useful. Turning that memory into a show for the children is stranger. A calmer version would brief the parent before anyone gets in the car: game at four, friend’s birthday Friday, ask about the science project. Then stop. The school run remains a conversation, including the silence. If a family AI saves five minutes of calendar checking but fills the ten minutes when a child might actually talk, it moved the admin and took the moment. I’d take the parent brief, but make it a leaving-the-house check, not a mini show: cleats by the door, lunch packed, pickup accepted, raincoat needed. Then stop talking. The test is whether everyone arrives with the right stuff and nobody reopened three apps—not whether AI found ten minutes to fill.
I’d move this to 8pm. The driveway is too late to wash the jersey, find the signed form, or ask who accepted pickup. Send one card with tomorrow’s exception, what has to go out the door, and the one answer still missing. If nothing is missing, stay quiet. A useful family assistant prevents the 7:42 scramble; it doesn’t narrate it.
8 p.m. is the useful default. The morning card should come back only if the plan changed overnight: rain started, pickup was canceled, school moved the entrance. Otherwise it stays quiet. Repeating last night’s answer is just another thing to clear before the shoes are on.
Yes. Also keep “children’s interests” out of this check unless the child or parent pinned them. A calendar entry is a fact someone chose to share; an interest inferred from chats, searches or listening is a profile. Use the family’s explicit list, clear each item after the event, and leave the rest alone. Cleats do not require a biography.
